Artistry in woodworking
As the son of a furniture artisan I spent most of my childhood in my father’s shop absorbing all the wisdom and knowledge I could. Watching him work and helping him on projects helped ignite a passion for woodworking that continues today.
However, my father’s passing during my adolescence left me frustrated and my desire for woodworking dwindled. I wouldn't rediscover my passion for woodworking until college when having outgrown my bed, I decided to build a new one.
In 2009, I spent the summer honing my skills at the famous Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers shop in Auburn, Maine. Upon returning home the idea for Sustar Woodworks was born.
Our goal is to hand craft simple, functional, heirloom furniture. We also offer hand crafted wood accessory products that are available online.
Tom Moser told me, “It takes a craftsman a lifetime to perfect the art of design.” The journey has begun. I invite you to see a few samples of our work on this site.
